Family Adventure Kenya & Uganda

Begin your journey in lush mountains of Uganda where you will discover the source of the Nile River and go trekking to find chimpanzees or gorillas. Then, spend some time getting to know how locals live at a rural school where you will have the chance to teach and donate supplies. Then, it's off to Kenya for safari. Spend morning and afternoons exploring the African Bush looking for the Big Five: elephants, lions, rhinos, buffalo, and leopards, as well as smaller animals like zebra and giraffe. But this is no ordinary safari...it's the Great Migration! If luck is with us, we will witness a massive herd of wildebeest crossing the river as crocodiles and lions lurk nearby.

This tour is escorted by the experts in family travel, host family from the Travel With Kids television series, who has extensively traveled around Africa as a family since 2012. In addition, local Ugandan and Kenyan guides accompany us to offer expert insight.

Day 1:

Arrive Entebbe and transfer to Kampala where we will take in a cultural show that teaches us all about the different tribes of Eastern Africa through song and dance.

Day 2:

Visit the Kampala craft market and then head north to Murchison National Park and Budongo Forest, home of the chimpanzees.

Day 3:

Rise early to head into Murchison National Park where we will drive through the plains spotting animals such as giraffe, zebra, lions, buffalo, and more. After lunch, head out by boat to see the spectacular Murchison Falls perhaps seeing hippos, crocodiles and elephants en route.

Overnight at Budongo Eco-Lodge or similar. (B, L, D)

Day 4:

In the morning, head out into the jungle for some trekking fun to find the chimpanzees that inhabit these forests. Spend at least one hour watching the chimpanzees (not guaranteed) as they groom, call, and play with each other. After lunch, head south to Jinja, a rural community on the Nile River.

Day 5:

After breakfast, head to a local school for some volunteer time. Teach the kids about world history, science, life in your home country and more. In the afternoon, board a motorized canoe to find the source of the Nile.

Day 6:

Today, we transfer an amazing hotel on an island in the Nile River. Lounge by the pool, go fishing and more. Or, optionally, take a white water rafting tour.

Day 8:

After breakfast, head to Entebbe for your short flight (not included in price) to Masaai Mara in Kenya. After getting settled in your luxury tent, head out for an afternoon game drive.

Day 9: 

Today, enjoy two game drives, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Driving over the wild African savannah in an open top jeep seeking out the Big Five (lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos and buffalo) as well as other animals like giraffe, zebra and warthogs. Between game drives either relax at the lodge, or, optionally, take a walking safari or visit a Masaai village.

Day 10:

After morning safari, head back to Nairobi by plane for your return flight home (not included in price).
